The Heritage Room
A Heritage Room has been created in the Board Room of the former Girls' High School.
The room is still a working Board, Meeting and sometimes Class Room. It is, however,
easily accessible - both in and out of term - simply by making an appointment with the
Secretary of Abbot Beyne's School (01283 - 239 800).
The Room still contains the original, 1920s oak panelling and oak long-tables. It
divides in two - one side devoted to the Grammar School and the other to the High School.

General View: Original oak panelling, oak long
table to right. The C17th School Chest under the clock. The cabinets were purpose built for
the Heritage Collection and surround the room. To the left is the High School Collection,
to the right the Grammar School.

The School Chair. The chair was given by the OBAs in the
1950s and seated the Head on the Stage at Assembly and formal occasions. In
the cabinet to the left can be seen the school crest - rather the worse for
wear, a school rugby and school cricket cap and a variety of memorabilia. |

Good teaching continues - above white board are High School photos.
