Pete Davies
I was elected to the County Council in May 2005 to represent Burton Trent Division (East Staffordshire). The Division incorporates the two Borough Council wards of Anglesey and Stapenhill and has an electorate of about 9,000. I am a member of both the Audit Committee and the Social Care Scrutiny and Performance Panel. I also serve on the Stoke and Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Authority, being a representative on both the Human Resources Committee and the Scrutiny and Performance Panel. From 1995 to 2003, I represented Stretton Ward on East Staffordshire Borough Council. I was Chairman of the Planning Applications Committee and Mayor of the Borough from 2001 to 2002. I am a graduate of Nottingham University where I read Geography before obtaining my PGCE and becoming a teacher. I taught for six years in Burton Grammar School (1962-68) in those far off days, before going into primary education. My last twelve years in teaching, before I took early retirement, were as the full-time teaching head of a village primary school. I have been married to Freda since 1963. Our eldest daughter works for Janet Dean, Member of Parliament for Burton; our youngest daughter works as a nanny while our son is a graphic designer. I played rugby for Burton RFC for 30 years and my last game of cricket about 10 years ago. In my spare time (what's that?), I enjoy gardening, quizzing and photography. My email address is peter.davies@staffordshire.gov.uk and I look forward to hearing from you. For more information on the Local Members' Initiative Scheme (LMIS)
Pete follows in the footsteps of other BGS masters, such as Chris Shepherd and, of course, Norman Roe, in working for the Labour Party in Burton. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
