Burton on Trent Grammar School Links:
Your Photos (and High School Photos) are held in the Litchfield Record Office (The
Friary, Lichfield WS13 6QG. (01543 510720) e-mail
(lichfield.record.office@staffordshire.gov.uk) You can request copies
or make your own scans.
Either way, you will have to go in and identify the material you want. For this,
you need to make an appointment – just phone up a few days in advance - but
bring identification which includes your address. If you are scanning, or
requesting a scan, ask for at least 400dpi or possibly more -
if the original photo is of high quality, the detail which you will be able to
see will amaze. The most useful materials are: 1) For the Grammar
School - a number of tomes, each for a given year, which contain
all Form Photos for the given year. There are also copious
amounts of rugby, swimming, cricket, etc. photos. 2) For the High School
- a number of 3 to 4 ft. rolls of the whole school for the given year. The
resolution is excellent, but they are difficult to unroll and have to be
scanned in pieces. See Burton
Archives' Listing for a detailed listing of the materials held. Please send a copy,
as large as you like to
grammar.school@burton-on-trent.org and it will be uploaded with due
credit. FriendsReunited has many Old Boys and they are directly
contactable by e-mail - if you join up for £5. Also has section for Girls' High
School and many of the Junior Schools around Burton.
